The Alderney official football team represents the island of Alderney in non-FIFA international football. Alderney is th...e third-largest island of the Channel Islands and the northernmost of the inhabited Channel Islands. The island’s area is just 3 square miles and has a population of 2,019, with Alderney’s football ground, the Arsenal Ground having an official capacity of 1,500, the majority of the island’s population. Alderney’s football team is best-known for competing in the annual Muratti Vase against their much larger Channel Islander rivals of Guernsey (population 63,000) and Jersey (population 108,000). The competition has been held since 1905 and in the history of the Muratti Vase, Alderney has only won the competition once, in 1920. This title is still fondly remembered today and the 100-year anniversary of the victory was celebrated recently. Since 2016, Alderney has entered a team in the Priaulx League, the top football league in Guernsey, with the Alderney Nomads finishing in 2nd place in the 2018-19 season.
