War veterans can return home with both physical and mental injuries. Some bear physical scars, while many more suffer fr...om invisible wounds from the battlefield. Deep human sacrifices that are often not recognized by society. The Danish Sports Confederation (DIF) acknowledges all former deployed personnel and their relatives for their efforts in making the world a safer place. With the DIF Soldier Project, the Danish Sports Confederation has established more than 55 safe training communities in Danish sports associations for formerly deployed personnel with physical and mental injuries. These training communities are called Safe Zones and are driven by mutual understanding and good camaraderie between former deployed personnel. The auction sale of the unique match jerseys from Veteran Match supports DIF Soldier Project's Safe Zones across the country. 45 clubs from Denmark's largest leagues in football, ice hockey, and handball dedicate a home match to recognize and honor Denmark's deployed personnel. Players wear match jerseys with the Veteran Match logo – and several of the jerseys are specially designed and completely unique. Referees support with special camouflage jerseys for Veteran Match games, and the captain's armbands feature the Veteran Match logo, which with its colors embraces the Army, Navy, Air Force, and Dannebrog. All united in a four-leaf clover, symbolizing hope for a fortunate future. For Veteran Match 2023, former deployed personnel and their relatives are invited free of charge to a total of 45 matches in football's 3F Superliga and NordicBet Liga, ice hockey's Metal Liga, and handball's Men's League. The proceeds from the auction sale go directly to DIF Soldier Project's nationwide training programs for former deployed personnel, where they can train in the company of like-minded individuals in safe environments.
