To celebrate the centenary of the Sacred Mantle in its best-known form, Flamengo and adidas have released yet another ic...onic piece from the Originals line.
The piece has the stripes and collar like those of the time and brings the red-black shield that was used until 1981. The number 10 appears on the back of the shirt. On the inside of the collar, you can see an inscription alluding to the historical fact. On June 4, 1916, when Rubro-Negro beat São Bento-SP 4-2, the world would start to see that uniform differently. Until then, Flamengo had used the shirt with four squares – the “penny parrot” – and with red, black and white stripes – known as the “coral snake”. That afternoon, Mais Querido donned for the first time a red and black shirt with horizontal stripes – a pattern that is still known throughout the world.
