First design in a multi-year contract with chinese kitmaker Li-Ning, envisioned as part of a plan of brand expansion in ...asia by the club. As a further push in that direction, every shirt had stamped the 你好中國 motto (Nǐ hǎo zhōngguó, "Hello China") at the back, just below the collar. Also every player shirt had their player name translated to chinese characteres.
As the kit deal was inked with an spanish licensee and not Li-Ning directly, all those plans came to an end when that company entered financial turmoil in that very season, and Sevilla picked a licensee of Umbro (again not Umbro directly) for the next season, as they looked for another kit provider for a long term contract.
Additionaly for this season Sevilla used the Playing2 system (as well as atletico, real madrid,Athletic, Real Sociedad & Osasuna) where fan portraits were printed in the player names and numbers in a 5x5mm grid.
