Accounting for Italy being part of the Axis Powers during World War II, Italy's football federation witnessed several ch...anges as the country rearranged itself. First off, the monarchy was abolished, with the House of Savoy crest losing its place on the front of the shirts. Second, the country's iconic look (blue / white / blue) returned after Benito Mussolini's fascist regime installed a black kit for Italy's national team, which was debuted on 17 February 1935 in a friendly against France. Lastly, the country's name "ITALIA" was incorporated into the design for the 1954 FIFA World Cup on top of the tricolour shield. Picture is showing Italy's classic kit combination in 1968, as worn by influential Bauscia Giacinto Facchetti.
