The Kurdistan national team represents the Kurdistan Region, a region in Western Asia wherein the Kurdish people form a prominent majority population. They regularly participate in non-FIFA tournaments as well as various other competitions, where they have consistently performed strongly and feature a squad largely comprising of players from the Kurdistan-based clubs competing in the Iraqi Premier League. They made their official debut in the 2008 VIA World Cup and later won the tournament as hosts in the 2012 edition. In 2012 they also competed in the Palestine International Cup, where they were the only non-FIFA national team in the tournament and finished in 3rd place. Most recently they competed in the 2019 Norway Cup, a tournament featuring clubs from all over the world, and reached the Quarter-Finals after finishing at the top of their group in Round 1.
