Shelbourne also competed in the 2005-06 Champions League qualifiers in this season, beating Northern Irish side Glentoran in the first qualifying round before losing to Romanian side Steaua Bucharest in the second qualifying round. Shelbourne also finished as runners up in the inaugural Setanta Cup, a competition between sides from both Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. The away kit was accompanied by navy shorts and sky blue socks.
