Third Lanark AFC is an amateur phoenix club of the historic Third Lanark A.C., which played at New Cathkin Park in the s...outh end of Glasgow. The original club was founded in 1872 by soldiers of the 3rd Lanarkshire Rifle Volunteers after being inspired by the first-ever international game between Scotland and England. Various friendly tours took place across North and South America, notably against the Argentinian XI at the River Plate stadium. This was the first time an Argentine-side played against a British club in 9 years. They left a lasting impression on South American football.
The club gained a following and would become successful as champions of Scotland. Unfortunately, due to a series of losses and bad financial decisions by Bill Hiddleston, Third Lanark A.C. was dissolved in 1967. As of the 2018-19 season, Third Lanark AFC plays in the CSAFL at Toryglen. This kit is a loving testament to a proud and historic Scottish club, celebrating the 150th anniversary of Third Lanark.
RIP Bobby Laird.
