To honor and help war veterans in Viborg Municipality, Viborg FF is once again part of the Veteran Match initiative this... year, where Danish soldiers are celebrated and empowered to find employment after being deployed to global hotspots.
This year's tribute will take place at Friday's match against FCM, which will include a ceremony before kickoff. For this occasion, veterans and their closest relatives are also invited to attend the match for free.
Viborg FF first participated in the initiative in 2021, making this the third consecutive year that Veteran Match is held in Viborg. As in previous years, it is organized in close collaboration between Viborg FF, Viborg Municipality, the Danish Sports Confederation, and local businesses.
Nationwide, Veteran Match is held at clubs in the 3F Superliga, Men's Handball League, and the top Danish ice hockey league, Metal Ligaen, as in previous years. Additionally, clubs from the NordicBet League are participating this year, resulting in a total of 47 tribute matches across the country.
For the match against FCM, players will wear the Veteran Match logo on their jerseys. After the match, the jerseys will be auctioned off via matchwornshirts.com, with proceeds going directly to the DIF Soldiers Project. In the fan zone, Veteran Match pins will also be sold, with all profits going to the Danish Sports Confederation's Soldiers Project.
